President and Chief Innovation Officer of the Gibraltar Solutions Development Company

Rashim T. McKinney (he/him) is president and chief innovation officer of the Gibraltar Solutions Development Company, an economic research and development firm that helps inform and influence policy and programs that advance entrepreneurship and innovation culture in the Deep South.

Prior to becoming Gibraltar’s president and CIO in April 2015, Rashim served as an Air Force acquisitions officer leading teams to develop and administer Defense space, information technology and education programs. He received his commission from ROTC Detachment 015–home of the Tuskegee Airmen, after completing the program established at Tuskegee Institute in 1919.

McKinney is deeply committed to the community. He serves as strategist, bridge builder and trusted adviser to community leaders, organizers, artists and activists alike. He has worked alongside stakeholders and decision makers to establish forward-thinking public-private partnerships and initiatives including Social Montgomery, I-85 Cyber Corridor Movement, Montgomery Techlab, The Lab on Dexter, The Alabama Collective and River Region Trails.

McKinney holds a Masters of real estate development from Auburn University and a B.S. in management science from Tuskegee University. He is a proud girl dad of three daughters: Maia, 16, Annelise 6, and Simone 4.
